Convince C-level leadership at Deckster to approve a limited pilot migration from Mixpanel to PostHog for product analytics and experimentation infrastructure. We currently use Mixpanel as our main product analytics tool at Deckster, mainly for funnels, event tracking, retention, and general product analysis. It works well, but over time I see several limitations: cost grows fast with usage, experimentation is fragmented because A/B testing is not naturally part of the same system, and overall we increasingly need more flexibility around product analytics infrastructure. PostHog looks interesting because it is not only analytics — it also includes feature flags, A/B testing, session recordings, and other product tools in one ecosystem. It is significantly cheaper at our scale, open source, and if needed can even be self-hosted later, which gives strategic optionality. My proposal is not full migration, but approval for a limited pilot: replicate one important funnel in PostHog, run parallel tracking for several weeks, test one experiment through its native feature flag system, and evaluate whether data quality, usability, engineering effort, and economics justify deeper migration. The ask is small: limited engineering support and product time to test the waters before making a larger infrastructure decision.
